I have a HP iPAQ hx2490 (with bluetooth) running Windows CE 5.0. I was synching this with a WindowsXP box with ActiveSync through USB connectivity.

• Apr 17, 2018  I have an HP ipaq which uses windows mobile 5.0 and I have just purchased a laptop with windows 7. I used to sync the ipaq with my old laptop (xp) using active sync. The first time i plugged the ipaq into the new laptop windows mobile center installed on the laptop.

I recently bought a laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium. I take it that you no longer can use Activesync with Vista and have to use Windows Mobile Device Centre instead. I can get the iPAQ to talk to the laptop through Bluetooth. But it would not appear in the Mobile Device Centre. I think you need to run Windows Mobile 6.0 on the device for this to happen.
So, if the above is the case, how can I upgrade the iPAQ to Windows Mobile 6.0?

L. How do I install Windows Mobile Device Center on Windows 7 Ultimate and start synching my PDA?
I connected the PDA to the laptop via USB-cable, and run the drvupdate-amd64.exe from Microsoft:

But after running the .exe file, I receive the message that the device center was not installed because the device is not connected (even though it is powered on and connected through the USB-cable.).
